Muscular men lined up at the B.V. Karanth Auditorium at Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) Grounds in Mysuru on Thursday morning as the authorities paired wrestlers on the basis of their height and weight for the Nada Kusti or traditional wrestling competition organised as part of Dasara festivities.

Even though the Government has sought to keep the Dasara celebrations low-key this year and restricted the annual Dasara sports to a district-level event, the authorities have decided to retain Nada Kusti competitions after cancelling the State- and national-level wrestling competitions.

The women’s category in wrestling competitions has been cancelled this year, said D. Ravikumar, Additional Secretary, Dasara Traditional Wrestling Competition 2015.

The wrestling bouts will be held at D. Devaraj Urs Multi-Purpose Stadium at KEA grounds from September 13 to 18. “After pairing the wrestlers, about 15 to 20 bouts will be held every day,” Mr. Ravikumar said.
