Gareth Bale and Wales will use the World Cup heroics of their rugby counterparts to inspire them to Euro 2016 qualification in Bosnia.

Chris Coleman’s men need a point from their final ties against the Bosnians and Andorra to guarantee a place in France next summer, while Warren Gatland’s rugby team can top their pool by beating Australia.

The Sarajevo and Twickenham contests take place within a matter of hours of each other on Saturday evening — meaning Wales could be in for a monster celebration, should there be a double success.

And Wolves midfielder David Edwards has revealed how Bale, in particular , will use the rugby squad’s bravery as a spur.

“I know Gareth likes the rugby more than most and he keeps a real track on it in Madrid,” said Edwards.

“We’ve been watching and we take a massive inspiration from the World Cup , when you see how well they have done and the character they have shown.

"They have dug in deep and it made us all very proud. Hopefully, we can use that and Wales can have a successful weekend and massive party.”

The Reading striker has become a cult hero among Welsh support this campaign, with travelling brass band, the Barry Horns, creating a chant for him to the tune of Salt-N-Pepa's 1980s hit Push It.

Robson-Kanu said: “It’s a massive honour.”
