For the first time IIT-Kanpur had a prominent sports person gracing the closing ceremony of their inter-college sports festival Udghosh, on Sunday.
For the first time IIT-Kanpur had a prominent sports person gracing the closing ceremony of their inter-college sports festival Udghosh, on Sunday. Former Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya was the chief guest at the event, which was held from October 1 to 4 in the city. The cricketing legend gave away the medals and prizes to the winners of the sports events after the four-day festival.
Later, Jayasuriya also met and interacted with the students at the institute and gave them invaluable tips to become great players.
The festival had sporting events like athletics, cricket, football, basketball, volleyball and tennis among other sports, with as many as 1800 students from 50 colleges including IITs, IIMs, Delhi and Mumbai and other universities participating in it.
The same day in the the evening, singer Nikhil D'Souza performed for the students. Known for songs like Lip To Lip, O Gujariya and Har Kisi Ko among other popular numbers, the singer had the crowd singing and dancing with him for more than an hour.
