Atlanta Falcons 'embarrassed' by radio host's sexist comments about Jessica Mendoza

Mike Bell, an Atlanta radio host who describes himself as a “12-year-old with a driver’s license” sort of apologized for calling Jessica Mendoza “Mendoza Tits McGee” after tweeting out (and then of course deleting) an offensive question for the widely respected analyst.

The tweet came as Mendoza made broadcasting history by becoming the first woman to call a nationally televised MLB playoff game on Tuesday night. Other than a few sexist comments like those from Bell, she received excellent reviews from experts and fans. Mendoza, a former softball player, was called into the ESPN booth earlier this season for the first time after the network suspended Curt Schilling.

This apparently was offensive as well to Bell who just couldn’t believe that they let a lady into the broadcast booth.

Bell tweeted out a few more offensive things, argued with people on Twitter for a bit and then later tweeted that it was just “a bad joke.”

On Wednesday, the Atlanta Falcons tweeted their disapproval as well:

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he read a pre-taped statement on the air apologizing for his actions and has been suspended.
