Irish actors Simon Delaney and Maria Doyle Kennedy bag roles in Hollywood blockbuster
Irish actor Simon Delaney has been cast in a new supernatural thriller Stateside.
He has just started his new gig on TV3's Saturday AM but Simon Delaney has already had to take a break to star in a new film.
The 45-year-old has been cast in Hollywood blockbuster The Conjuring 2.
Directed by James Wan, the supernatural thriller is based on events recorded by demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will reprise their roles as the Warrens and travel to London to help a single mother who is plagued by malicious spirits.
It is not known what role Delaney will have, but it's set to be another big break for the actor, as the first film had the largest ever opening for an original horror film, earning more than €285m.
Simon won't be the only Irish actor on set as Maria Doyle Kennedy, known for toles in The Tudors and Downton Abbey, has also signed on for a part.
Delaney's break comes as no surprise to TV3 as Simon has it written into his contract that he could leave if Hollywood ever came calling.
"It's in my contract that if I'm on tour with a show or if a role comes up I can take it and they'll have someone stand in for me," he told The Herald.
