Sporadic landslips continue on Tirumala ghat road

October 07, 2015 03:37 pm | Updated 03:38 pm IST - Tirumala:

For the second day on Wednesday the second ghat road leading to the sacred shrine of Lord Venkateswara experienced landslips at various places. The landslips were minor in nature, but the vehicle drivers were gripped in panic as the stones sporadically rolled down from at a height of about 20 feet to 30 feet at several places and even more at certain places.

The only perceptible mediocre slide was reported at the eighth kilometre on the ghat road.

The TTD's JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju, who inspected the ghat road, ordered for the diversion of the vehicular traffic on to the link road connecting the first ghat road till evening. He also directed the engineering officials to identify other vulnerable points which are more prone to further landslides and fix them from falling on the road.
