You know that the Navratri preparations are going on in full swing when you take a closer look at every street, lane and corner of the city and see it decked up bright and colourful.

Fashion designer Archana Makwana suggests, “This year its all about fusing tradition and modern. With crop tops being the flavour, one can mix the crop top on chaniyas and add on a bright coloured duppatta. Also one can add a touch of quirk by wearing a short jacket on the crop top or a bustier and team up with a bright coloured plain chaniya with some designs on the borders and you are ready to rock the look. Also a lot of girls are going for the Ram-Leela look, that is opting a layered chaniya-choli in dark shades and wearing heavy earrings and loads of bangles to add more glam. Opt for typical Kutchi embroidery, hand embroidery, ari work, mirror work with a blend of hand woven motifs. This year it will be all about blending modern cuts with traditional prints in bright colours.”
While designer Amol Upadhyay says, “This Navratri quirk is going to rule even in men’s wear. From quirky, abstract, animal prints men have a to flaunt this year. Men can experiment by wearing short kurtis on dhotis or salwar. Kurtas with straight pants and duppattas that have abstract prints in bright colours will add a festive touch. This year one can experiment more with digital prints on both duppattas and chaniya-cholis.
Colour me right
Designer Digvijay Singh says, “Not only women but even men loves to flaunt bright colours. This year men are experimenting more with colours as they are wearing a lot of brighter colours like tangerine, yellow, oranges and even fuschia. This year too neons will rule the chart. Red, black, gold and white and going to flood the market this year.
Kediyu with loads of pleats in them are in. Also kurtas with quirky prints are in vogue. Girls are opting for chaniyas that are layered or have a fish tail effect and team it with corset cholis. Keep the entire ensemble plain, and let the borders do the
talking in traditional prints and patterns. One can experiment a lot by adding different textures and fabrics too.”

This year while the clothes are going all experimental the jewellery’s going soft and very traditional. Heavy earrings with traditional temple designs will oomph up your look. Fabric based jewellery or hand-made jewelleries are quite the rage. Bangles made from fabrics and small trinklets can pep up a plain look.
