Chennai: Though Shashank Manohar, in his first media conference soon after taking charge as BCCI president, made it clear that the change of guard in Indian cricket wouldn’t lead to vindictive action, it looks like the Board is all set to clip wings of N. Srinivasan’s men like treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry and vice-president T.C. Mathew.

Anirudh, who represents Haryana Cricket Association, and Kerala Cricket Association’s Mathew have become integral members of Srinivasan’s camp over the last few years.
In a first move aimed at Anirudh, Manohar has moved the treasurer’s office, which is currently in two locations in Chennai and Delhi, to BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.
“The treasurer has been operating from a top Delhi hotel in the last two years. The BCCI has been paying Rs 3.5 lakh per month as rent. Anirudh also has offices in Bhiwani, Chennai and Mumbai. Shashank will sort this out first,” a newspaper report quoted a source as saying.
Last year, Aditya Verma, Srinivasan’s bête noire, had alleged the BCCI was spending Rs 40 lakh in sprucing up the two hotel rooms in seven-star hotel for its treasurer.
Sources say Mathew, who had beaten Sharad Pawar-led rival camp’s Ravi Sawant by two votes in the last AGM for a surprise win in West Zone, could be the next target as the board is “upset over feeding media with wrong information.”
