Head of Quincy Chamber of Commerce to step down

Dean Rizzo recently announced his plans to leave his position as president of the Quincy Chamber of Commerce at the end of the year. With his departure, Rizzo will also be giving up his post as executive director of the Quincy 2000 Collaborative, the chamber’s economic development arm. Looking back, Rizzo said he took pride in the merger of six business organizations to create Quincy 2000, and the eventual partnership between that organization and Discover Quincy to create the Quincy Chamber of Commerce. Other accomplishments he cited included the evolution of the chamber from fewer than 100 members to 600 today, and the creation and growth of the Quincy Center for Innovation. The chamber’s board of directors has launched a search for Rizzo’s successor. In an interview, Rizzo said he was looking for other professional opportunities, but “knowing the type of position I have, I felt it was important to give the board enough time to find my successor.’’
