Police opens Facebook page to interact with commuters
Kochi: Expecting a huge turnout of football fans like last year, the Kochi Police has made an elaborate traffic regulation plan that restricts entry of heavy vehicles carrying fans into the city.
The cops have started a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/KochiCity Police) too aiming to convey the traffic regulations quickly to the masses, especially youths.
Last year, the matches in Kochi saw over 60, 000 attendees and football lovers are expected to flow into the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium at Kaloor by early Tuesday:-
No heavy vehicles apart from city service buses would be allowed to ply or park along the Edapally Bypass – Highcourt section. No parking would be allowed along the road sides near the stadium.
For vehicles coming from Aluva, Kakkanad areas: The heavy vehicles should park on service roads on both sides of the Edapally-Vytilla National Highway, Seaport-Airport Road and Container Terminal Road without causing obstructions to other vehicles. The smaller vehicles should reach behind the stadium via Palarivattom Round- Tammanam Road-Karanakodam and park at the St Jude Church ground, MMA Ground, Water Authority ground and Helipad ground.
For vehicles coming from NH 47 Northern side: The heavy vehicles should park at the Container Terminal Road after dropping fans at Edapally bypass.
For vehicles coming from NH 47 Southern side: The heavy vehicles should drop fans at Vytilla Jn and park at the service roads along the highway.
The small vehicles coming from Vytilla side could reach the stadium via SA Road-Kadavantra-Kathrikadavu-Karanakodam and park in the grounds near the stadium.
The small vehicles coming from West Kochi should take right from Pallimukku to reach the stadium via SA Road-Kadavantra-Kathrikadavu.
