Rohtak: Student stabbed to death on college campus, another critical

According to the police, the cause of the clash was yet not known.

A STUDENT of government college in Rohtak was brutally stabbed to death while his classmate was critically injured in a clash on the campus on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Anil, a student of BA first year at Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government College, Rohtak. His classmate, identified as Dinesh, is admitted in Rohtak’s Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) with multiple stab injuries on his head. He is said to be critical.

According to the police, the cause of the clash was yet not known.

Rohtak district police chief Shashank Anand, who reached the spot, spoke to college authorities and eyewitnesses to the incdient.
“We have registered a case on charges of murder against unidentified persons. A few persons have been detained for questioning. The motive behind the murder is not yet clear,” a senior police official said.

The investigating police officials disclosed that a group of six-seven students attacked Anil and Dinesh near the notice board area of the college. Both were repeatedly stabbed with sharp objects. While Anil succumbed to injuries on the spot, Dinesh was rushed to hospital.
Anil was a resident of Titoli village in Rohtak. He left his home this morning and the incident took place around 11.45 am on the college campus.

“I don’t know why was my son stabbed. He did not have enmity with anybody. Police informed me about the incident and I rushed to Rohtak PGI where I found him dead. The doctors told me that he had already died before he reached hospital. Police told me that six-seven youngsters stabbed Anil to death. His entire body had stab injuries, which shows the brutal manner in which he was killed”, Jagbir Singh, Anil’s father told Indian Express.

Protest erupted on the college campus soon after the incident. Heavy police deployment was made in and around the college premises to maintain law and order.

The Investigating Officer of the case, ASI Rajkumar, Police Station, PGIMS, Rohtak said, “We have detained a few students who are suspected to be involved in the murder. Their questioning is going on. No arrests have been made so far”.

Anil’s body was handed over to his father after the post-mortem examination. The preliminary cause of Anil’s death was a stab injury in his heart.
