Round Five of the Superbike European Championship proved particularly difficult for the QMMF Racing riders, due to the tricky weather conditions for Sunday’s double-header.
In the first of the two races, rain appeared after the formation lap and turned the contest into a lottery -with the Qatari riders not experiencing good fortune on this occasion.
Mashel al-Naimi, who was riding in Navarra for the first time, struggled with the changing conditions. In the second race he began strongly, but did not feel comfortable on the final laps and lost positions to finish in eighth.
A ninth place finish in Race 2 for Saeed al-Sulaiti is his best result of the season so far, and confirms the excellent progress he is making in the class.
“It has been a difficult weekend for me. During practice we had problems with the brakes and it did not help me adapt to the track. Today, with the conditions we experienced, I did not manage to get 100% comfortable,” al-Naimi said.
