“At Fandango, we’re at the intersection of entertainment, technology and consumers and we are excited to help drive innovation for the industry,” said Fandango President Paul Yanover.

Fandango, an NBCUniversal subsidiary, also announced its advisory board for the new venture: Dave Hollis of Disney; George Dewey of Fox; David Doyle of Regal Entertainment Group; Alwyn Hight Kushner of TCL Chinese Theatres; Jason Blum, founder and CEO of Blumhouse Productions; and Jennifer Panasik of design and consulting firm IDEO, which will serve as a Fandango innovation partner in this new venture.

FandangoLabs plans to release its first products next year. It plans to explore products in location-based services, social commerce, augmented and virtual reality, interactive video and personalization.

Fandango noted that it has created apps for Apple’s Passbook, Siri and Apple Watch, and Google’s Android platform, Google Plus and Google Now.
