When it comes to smartphones, HTC's had a bad year so far. The company's One M9, launched at the start of this year managed to overheat a lot, causing significant user problems and negative reviews. Even though HTC played on its strengths of elegant device design and introduced some great features with the One M9, the Snapdragon 810 was enough to bring the device down. Qualcomm's ill-fated SoC saw not only HTC's market share slip to lesser than what it already was, but the company also lost investor confidence as its share price dipped. Well, the company's been rumored to have another device in the works for quite the while, the HTC One A9, and today we have some more information for you surrounding it.

The HTC One A9 Gets Certified By The GCF - Launching On October 30th?
We've been hearing quite a lot about the successor's of the HTC One M9, with the device rumored to be coming with SoCs ranging from the Helio X20 to the Snapdragon 820. The processor won't be the only thing that will be changing on the device if the rumors are correct however. Its been rumored for quite a while that HTC's also looking to do away with the One 'M' series once and for all and will be launching flagship smartphones with new nomenclature. Suggestions ranging from the HTC O2 to the HTC One A9 have popped up and today looks like we might actually be getting a HTC One A9.
As can be seen in the tweet above, the GCF has just granted certification to the HTC One A9, which means that we should be expecting a launch from the company soon. As to whether the smartphone will be flagship category still remains to be found out as 2016's fast approaching and HTC will be hard pressed to launch a device in the first quarter as well if it intends to stay relevant in the ever growing Android flagship race.
Coming towards the specifications of the device, a variety of processors have surfaced on the One A9 over the past couple of months. These have ranged from the Helio X20, MediaTek's deca-core offering that can be seen above, to the Snapdragon 620. Aside from processor details, according to some leaked Antutu scores, that can also be seen above, the HTC One A9 is expected to be quite a reasonable device so far.
The HTC One A9 is expected to come with a 5 inch, Full HD screen, coupled with rear and front camera resolutions of 13 and 5MP and 2GB of RAM on board. Given the current nature of specifications in the Android world, we'd expect the device to pack a lot more, especially in the camera department if it hopes to compete at the top level.
