The Israeli authorities on Monday approved the delivery of the body of Fadi Allon -- a 19-year-old Palestinian killed by Israeli gunfire one day earlier -- to the slain man’s family for burial, according to a local NGO.

“The Israeli authorities approved the delivery of Fadi Allan’s body today at noon so that it might be buried at the Shuffat Cemetery in occupied East Jerusalem,” Mohamed Mahmoud, a lawyer for the Prisoners’ Support and Human Rights Association (Addameer), a Palestinian NGO, told Anadolu Agency.

“They stipulated, however, that a maximum of 70 people could attend his funeral,” Mahmoud added.

The Israeli authorities, meanwhile, are still holding the body of Mohand al-Halabi, a 17-year-old Palestinian man who stabbed and killed two Israelis on Saturday.

Tensions have run high in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since the killing last week of two Jewish settlers near the Jewish-only Itamar Settlement near the West Bank city of Nablus.

Following the incident, violent clashes erupted across the West Bank and East Jerusalem between Palestinian youths and Israeli security forces.

Israeli soldiers are accused of using live ammunition, rubber bullets and teargas to disperse Palestinian demonstrators, leading to numerous injuries among the latter.
