ALLAHABAD: Denied entry to appear constable (GD) exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission, scores of aspirants created ruckus at Bal Mitra School examination centre in Dhoomanganj area and blocked the Allahabad-Kanpur highway for an hour on Sunday. Police had to resort to cane-charge to disperse the mob. Two cops sustained minor injuries after aspirants resorted to stone pelting.
Three aspirants were later nabbed by the Dhoomanganj police.
The staff selection commission had organized an exam for the post of constables in National Investigation Agency and central security forces.
The police said that the candidates were supposed to enter the centre before 9.30am. However, many of them reported late and were denied entry by centre-in-charge. The entrance of the school too was closed by the manager as the per the regulations laid by the examination conducting body.
When the aspirants failed to gain entry, they reportedly started raising slogans. Later some of them forcefully entered the centre by jumping over the boundary wall.
Dhoomanganj station officer Mahendra Dev Singh said, "They were informed about the norms laid down by SSC following surfacing of irregularities in exams. However, the aspirants resorted to ruckus. They entered the classrooms and tore away question papers, damaged furniture and fans in some rooms."
The aspirants were demanding quashing of exam at the centre. When the centre-in-charge reportedly refused and continued with the exams in rest of the rooms, the candidates forcefully snatched question papers from those writing it.

On being informed, Dhoomanganj police reached the spot and cane-charged the protestors. "Later they moved to Allahabad-Kanpur Highway and staged a road blockade for around half-an-hour," he said.
"Additional police force was rushed. Aspirants indulged in stone-pelting resulting in injuries to two constables," said the SO. Police again cane charged the protestors to clear the highway. Cops with minor injuries were released after medical aid. The centre manager has lodged an FIR against two dozens unidentified students along with the arrested three in this regard.
SSC regional director JP Garg said, "It was an unfortunate incident. As per the norms, late comers are not allowed to write exam and in this case too they were denied exams. Police have arrested the students creating ruckus. Later, the exam was conducted peacefully."
