Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a 57-year-old female pedestrian was seriously injured by a Toronto Police vehicle on Friday.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says the woman was crossing the road at the intersection of Richmond and Simcoe Streets when she was hit by a police vehicle.

The woman remains in hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries to her legs.

The SIU has assigned two forensics experts to investigate the cause of the incident.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the SIU at 1-800-87-8529, ext. 2038.

The Ontario SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates cases involving police where there has been death or serious injury.
