As the first wave of Glastonbury tickets sell out 30 minutes, bookies have revealed that Coldplay are the favourites to headline next year.

Bookies have given the band odds of 4/1 to headline the Pyramid Stage.

The band, who are currently working on their seventh album, A Head Full of Dreams, have headlined three times before; in 2002, 2005 and 2011.

Last month, festival organiser Michael Eavis told Newsbeat he had booked the headliners for the next two years.

Adele is the second favourite to headline the festival at Worthy Farm in 2016, with the Foo Fighters being third.

The fourth favourites are Blur with 12/1 odds and the Rolling Stones are way down with 40/1.

"Coldplay could make a welcome return to the Pyramid stage this year and that will no doubt cheer the masses as they wait and refresh their computers on Sunday morning in the race to bag some Glastonbury tickets," William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said in NME.

The official line-up is due to be announced next year.

As tickets for 2016 went on sale Sunday at 09:00 BST, fans snapped up the 118,200 standard tickets in 30 minutes.

Glastonbury said: "We have, once again, been staggered by the sheer number of people from around the world who hoped to come to the festival, with demand significantly outstripping supply."

"We're sorry to all of those who missed out," organisers said in a statement. "We really wish we could fit you all in.

"But there will be a resale of any returned tickets in the spring, and registration will open again in the next few days. Thank you for your incredible support."

Kanye West, Florence and the Machine and The Who headlined this year's festival.

Glastonbury 2016 will take place from 22-26 June 2016.
