Eddie Howe was not happy with what he saw on Saturday
Bournemouth may have enjoyed a solid start to the season but Eddie Howe is concerned at how they keep dropping points.
The Cherries blew the chance to collect a third win of the campaign on Saturday when Glenn Murray's late penalty was saved by Watford keeper Heurelho Gomes.
Instead a 1-1 draw left the newly-promoted side on eight points from their opening eight games, a return Howe feels should be higher.
"It was another game where we feel we have dropped points," said the Cherries boss.
"It's still very much a learning curve for us at this level and with eight games gone we are disappointed.
"We feel we should have more points this season, for the dominance we have had in games - which is obviously a good sign but also a concern, the way we are dropping points."
Murray was asked to fill the void left by a serious knee injury to Bournemouth's top scorer Callum Wilson.
The former Crystal Palace striker opened the scoring with a 28th-minute header but his penalty miss took the gloss off an otherwise impressive full debut.
"He was excellent," added Howe. "He scored a very good goal and was at the heartbeat of most of the good things about our team and worked incredibly hard.
"He's a totally different player to Callum; we are not comparing the two, what they bring are totally different strengths and we are going to have to mould ourselves around Glenn slightly, like we did with Callum."
Odion Ighalo capitalised on a mistake by Bournemouth keeper Artur Boruc to equalise before half-time, and Ben Watson rattled the crossbar as Watford pushed for a winner.
But they were indebted to Gomes, who pulled off a stunning save to keep out Steve Cook's overhead kick before his late spot-kick heroics.
"That's why I play in goal, to make saves for Watford and to help the team when they need me," the Brazilian keeper told Hornets Player.
"The goalkeeper has to be there all the time when the team needs him. Thank God I was there again.
"I believe it was a fair result. We were much better in the second half and we created chances. They had chances to go ahead as well, but fortunately we were able to defend those. "
