Mahindra Genio facelift spy shot previews 2016 Quanto and Xylo

Expected to debut later this year, the first photo of the new Genio pickup has been leaked online. It reveals a completely revised front design.

Doing away is Genio’s simple looking front, which is now replaced by a more chiselled and sporty front. The new grille features rectangular floating elements, finished in silver accent. These elements are fitted on to the black metal grille. In the centre, of the grille is Mahindra logo, which sits above the V shaped floating element and the new contoured bonnet.

Headlight structure is also revised, reminds of TUV300. The air dams have grown in size, housing circular fog lights with chrome rings. Surprisingly, the front only has Mahindra logo and fog light rings finished in chrome.

Based on the Mahindra Xylo platform, Genio range of pickup trucks was first launched in 2011. Considering that Xylo and Quanto are also due for a facelift in the near future, it is safe to assume that they will also receive a similar front design.

Unlike the Xylo and Quanto, Mahindra built the Genio range to cater to the needs of small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs), who were dependent on a vehicle to run their business.

Genio was built not only for India, but for global markets. It is exported to many countries across the globe and with demand on the rise, Mahindra is all-set to introduce a facelift version of the Genio range.

In India, it is offered in two variants – Single Cab and Double Cab. Both versions are powered by the same mDI CRDe 4 cylinder engine generating peak power of 75 hp and peak torque of 220 Nm. Apart from these two, the Genio range is also offered in customized solutions as ambulance and freezer vans.

Speaking about price, the existing Genio range starts from INR 5.98 lakh for the single cab, to INR 6.26 lakh for the double cab. We expect the pricing to remain largely unchanged when the facelift variants are launched.
