Ultra-high resolution displays have finally begun being offered on the market, however, right now, there are very few models.

These displays offer four times the number of pixels that would be found on a 4K display, sitting at 7,680 by 4,320 pixels. The world's first 8K display, offered by Sharp, measures a pretty hefty 85 inches.

Japan Display, however, has managed to shrink that down to just 17.3 inches, making a display that would work well as a computer monitor. Making a display that small with such a high resolution works out to a massive 510 pixels per inch.

In addition to the pixels, the display features a 176-degree viewing angle and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

According to Japan Digital, the display will initially find use in medical settings, as well as for people like video and photo professionals, and potentially for PC gaming. Of course, in order to game with this display, users would need a pretty hefty graphics rig.

While it certainly could find good use, no pricing or availability has yet been announced for the display, however, it will be on "display" at the NHK/Jeita booth at Ceatec Japan, which is set to take place later this month.
