MasterBedroom went undefeated in the playoffs to win the 2015 Quinte Senoir Mens Fastball League championship. • HIGH SCHOOL GOLF

Shayne Simpson and Heidi Bruins, both of St. Theresa Secondary School, are the 2015 Bay of Quinte golf champions.

Simpson shot a 76 to win the boys event this week at Trillium Wood; Bruins was tops in the female field with a 96.

Rounding out the top-three in the boys final standings were: 2. Joe Roy, Centennial, 78; 3. Justin Walmsley, Bayside, 81. James Pero, PECI, was fourth at 82.

St. T's swept the top-three among girls with Danielle Lentini (144) runner-up and Emily Hibbert (154) finishing third. Juliette Trudeau of Nicholson shot a 177 for fourth place.

Top team was St. Theresa (327) led by Simpson, 76; Aaron Meehan, 83; Matt Bruins, 84; Ethan Johnston, 84; David Craig, 94; Owen Dever, 101. Runners-up were the Nicholson Crusaders: Matthew Kerr, 83; Chris Kerr, 87; William Kerr, 90; Caiden Royce, 104.

Third-place boys team was Centennial: Roy, 78; Max Fleischmann, 87; Sam Roy, 93; Will Keneford, 121. Fourth-place finishers were Bayside: Walmsley, 81; Cam Hotten, 86; Riley Thompson, 118; Donovan Leger, 119; Pierce Nelson, 130. The North Hastings Huskies were fifth: Tanner Brady, 87; Silas Keating, 87; Josh Brown, 107; Jack Scott, 128.

Other competitors were: Centre Hastings — Dalton Bancroft, 96; Darcy Thompson, 123; Zack Baumhour, 135; PECI — Tyler Allison, 91; Alex Stasiw, 134; Moira — Brady Potter, 100; Andrew Soule, 114.

ON DECK: COSSA — Monday at Trillium Wood at 10 a.m.; OFSAA — Oct. 13-14 in Windsor.

• FOOTBALL

The Moira senior Trojans improved to 3-1 on the season in the Bay of Quinte football league with a 47-6 taming of the Trenton Tigers on Friday.

Cain Brown led MSS with a trio of rushing touchdowns while quarterback Jackson Cleave pssed to Jack Goerke for one major and ran for another. Jordan Maracle Hughes also counted a TD on a pick-six INT.

Cleave added six converts and two singles for Moira; Brown accounted for one single.

Also on Friday, the Centennial Chargers defeated the Centre Hastings Centurions 23-14 in an entertaining junior contest at MAS Park Field 2. Chase Bourgoin caught a pair of touchdown passes from CSS QB Will Rae while Connor Waite also had a major. Connor Cruickshank booted a 25-yard field goal, plus added two PAT's.

Zach West and Tanner Feuerherdt had the CHSS TD's.

The Quinte Saints swept a doubleheader over the St. Theresa Titans earlier in the week. Saints were 51-0 winners in the senior game; Quinte juniors won their matchup, 30-20.

Garrett Bradshaw led the junior Saints with touchdown runs of 15, 24 and 85 yards while Jake Aitken scored on a 10-yard scamper. Terran Bennett counted three PATs and a 13-yard field goal. On D, Cole Monk and Braden Tebworth each had INTs.

• BOYS SOCCER

Michael Burton tallied twice to lead the Bayside Red Devils to a 6-2 win over the PECI Panthers in Bay of Quinte boys soccer action this week.

Miika Kari, Scott Thompson, William Bonn and James Bradfield also scored for BSS. In the senior showdown, Jared Gosson and Sebastien Reddom scored for the Devils in a 2-2 deadlock with PECI.

• JUNIOR C HOCKEY

The Napanee Raiders scored the only two goals of the third period to defeat the hometown Picton Pirates 4-1 in Empire Jr. C Hockey League action Thursday night in Picton.

Aidan McFarland paced the Napanee attack with a two-goal effort, including the game-winner that broke a 1-1 tie in the second stanza. Austin Boulard and Jordan Cannons (empty-netter) also scored for the Raiders. Zack Revell was top playmaker with two assists.

Mitchell Merry, unassisted, scored the lone Picton goal in the opening frame.

Shots favoured the visitors, 39-27, with Cameron Parr earning the W in net for Napanee. Brock Tufts took the loss for Picton.
