N Srinivasan will not be physically present to see Shashank Manohar take over as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

He won’t be attending the special general body meeting of BCCI to be held in Mumbai on Sunday afternoon, which will decide the new president of the board after the demise of late president Jagmohan Dalmiya. Instead, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has sent name of PS Raman, the vice-president of the association, who will be attending the SGM.

His absence from the SGM does not come as surprise as the majority of the associations have already said that they will be supporting Manohar for the president post. Srinivasan tried hard by reaching out to top BJP politicians but didn’t receive any positive feedback.

The SGM is set to be a one-sided affair as Manohar is the only candidate for BCCI president post. “Srinivasan knows that there are few supporters left of him in the board and most of the associations had already made their mind that they want Manohar. Why he will come here to see a man who has criticized him till date. Srinivasan is past now,” a BCCI official said.

Festive offer

New Delhi: Meanwhile, former India captains Bishan Singh Bedi and Anil Kumble along with yesteryear’s great Mohinder Amarnath had deposed before the Justice Lodha Committee as they prepare an exhaustive report on the restructuring and reforms that need to be carried by the BCCI.

Bedi said that it was a “wonderful interaction” with the committee members.

“I spoke to the Lodha Committee for close to 90 minutes. It was a wonderful interacting with three eminent gentlemen of such high calibre. I spoke to them on lot of issues pertaining to Indian cricket. But it would not be fair on my part to divulge the details of a private meeting. It is their prerogative. But I am hopeful that things are on right direction,” Bedi told PTI.

It has been learnt that Kumble and Amarnath has also separately deposed before the committee comprising of Justice (Retd) Lodha, Justice (retd) RV Raveendran and Justice (retd) Ashok Bhan.
Lodha committee, in July, had asked for five months to complete the report which deals with changes with regard to constitution and functioning of the BCCI. PTI
