Inspired by the controversies surrounding Karnataka's powerful religious guru Raghaveshwara Bharathi (pontiff of Ramachandrapura Mutt), who has been accused of raping two women, a leading Kannada film-maker has decided to direct a movie on the subject.

Titled 'Gomukha', the movie will go on the floors later this month, according to producer-director Teshi Venkatesh.

"Seers and religious heads are supposed to guide society in the right direction. However, it is disgusting and shocking to see gurus inviting their female followers to the bed. This kind of exploitation of women has to stop," said Venkatesh.

The Karnataka CID police have filed a charge-sheet in connection with the alleged rape of a singer by Raghaveshwara Bharathi. The hearing into the case is set to commence shortly.

Venkatesh said that he will wait for the final verdict of the case before filming the climax portion. "It need not necessarily be directly linked to the rape case that is makings news. I am ready to fight the issue legally if anybody tries to block my creative work. This is a universal subject," he added.
