Umesh Yadav is supposed to take wickets right? Wrong. The lanky pacer has just added another dimension to his CV by doing something which many didn't expect from him.

A more than a run a ball century for Vidarbha against Odisha in their first match of the Ranji Trophy season at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur.

The home team were given a solid foundation by Aditya Shanware who scored a ton on Thursday. But as the heavyweights like Wasim Jaffer and S Badrinath failed, Vidarbha were struggling at 279 for 7 when Umesh came to the crease.

After that what followed was sheer domination with the willow as the Kolkata Knight Riders pacer plundered 128 runs from 119 balls with seven fours and same number of sixes.

He shared a 102 and 72-run partnership for the ninth and tenth wicket respectively with Akshay Wakhare and Ravikumar Thakur amd was unbeaten till the end propelling the his side's score to 467 in the first innings.

Umesh's first class batting average is a mere 12.25 and in Tests it's 7.75. But times are changing and with the Indian team having more than one player for every slot, the century can help the right hander to stake his claim in the team in the near future.
