Mumbai: India’s stock markets edged higher on Thursday, marking their third straight day of gains, led by a rise in software exporters as Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) and Infosys Ltd gained after rival HCL Technologies’ revenue warning.
Drug makers such as Lupin Ltd also rose on hopes of better-than-expected earnings in September-quarter due to favourable currency moves.
The benchmark BSE Sensex ended 0.25%, or 66.12 points higher, giving up most of its intra-day gains of 1.1% on profit-taking.
The broader Nifty ended up 0.03%, or 2 points, to 7,950.90.
Shares of TCS and Infosys rose 2.01% and 1.10%, respectively, while those of HCL Technologies lost 12.65%. Reuters
