Jack Grealish won't be linking up with the England squad next week

Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has pledged his international future to England

After pledging his allegiance to England last week, Jack Grealish has turned down the chance to join up with Roy Hodgson's England squad next week.

According to John Percy from the Telegraph, Hodgson wanted to integrate the former Ireland underage international into his squad but, following talks with his club manager Tim Sherwood, Grealish will remain at Aston Villa to work on his fitness.

Grealish, who has represented Ireland from Under-15 level right up to U-21s, is not eligible to play for England in their Euro qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania this month as he still awaits clearance from FIFA.

Hodgson, however, is keen to get the 20-year-old training with the first-team squad as soon as possible.

It has been reported that Villa and the FA had no problem agreeing that it would be best for Grealish to work on his fitness at the club after injuries limited him to just four Premier League starts so far this season.
