David West is channeling Drake lyrics going into his first season with the Spurs

David West is entering his first season with the San Antonio Spurs, a franchise that rarely makes negative headlines. So, to put himself in the Spurs state of mind — meaning, make sure no one misconstrues anything he says — he’s drawing inspiration from a sage lyricist: Drake.

The veteran power forward told the San Antonio Express-News that a lyric from “Back to Back,” the rapper’s second Meek Mill diss track, resonated with West. The line? “Trigger fingers turn to twitter fingers.”

From the San Antonio Express-News:

“Using the lyric to his own benefit, West said: ‘I don’t want to be that Twitter fingers type dude no more. Something about that (lyric) just … I’m not going to be typing. You want to ask me a question, you want to talk about something, talk to me.’”
