Conservancy workers consisting of women self-help groups employed by the City Corporation are undergoing a capacity building training programme aimed at making them more productive.

A higher sense of self-esteem, dignity of labour, and personal hygiene are the desired outcomes of the two-day programme on Wednesday and Thursday held under the aegis of National Urban Livelihood Mission.

The training imparted by Erode-based ABLE (Academy for Beginners, Leaders and Entrepreneurs) was initiated by Corporation Commissioner R. Mohan.

The programme will cover 120 conservancy workers in four batches, Program Trainer Ashok said. In the next phase, the training that also includes yoga sessions in morning and evening hours will take place from October 5 onwards for three batches, he said.
