Police have arrested a suspected killer of a woman and her daughter who were found tortured to death at their house in Jhelum on August 24.

Jhelum DPO Mujahid Akbar Khan said informed that Ayesha Bibi and her daughter Ansar Bibi were found tortured to death at their house in Saghir Puri within the Jalalpur Sharif police limits and cash and jewellery were also found missing from their house.

Following the incident, the Jalalpur Sharif police registered a blind double murder case and constituted a team which, after a month’s investigation, succeeded to arrest the suspected murderer, identified as Muhammad Rehman alias Mani, a resident of Sowaha.

Mani used to visit the victims’ house for the past few years as he had developed family terms with Ayesha, police said.

During investigation, the suspect told the police that he offered the victims a tampered sweet after which they fell unconscious and he looted their cash and jewellery.

He added in the meanwhile Ansar regained consciousness and he then stabbed her to death. Later, he smashed Ayesha’s head with a brick and later hanged her with a ceiling fan.

Police said the looted items have also been recovered from the suspect, adding that police traced him from the mobile data of the women.
