LEGACY CONSOLES AND WHERE TO FIND THEM
We have all played and loved the vintage Nintendos, Playstations and Segas. Every now and then, we have an urge to revisit them. We often cannot find a place which sells them. Here's a list of old school consoles that you can find and their prices.
1.Playstation 2
Probably the greatest console from the sixth generation, Sony's Playstation 2 is a masterpiece. Even now, there is demand for it. With classics like the Devil May Cry trilogy and the God of War games as PS2-only exclusives, there is a reason why it is highly-rated by gamers and is the highest selling console of all time.
The Playstation 2 can be found in most electronic or video game stores.A perfectly running PS2 would cost you around Tk. 4000 but if you are okay with playing a watered-down console where some of the games might not work, the price is Tk.1500. We would suggest you to go to Exclusive Game Zone in Bashundhara City or Plug and Play in Rifles Square to search for it.
2.Xbox
Microsoft's answer to Sony's PS2 might not have been as popular as its rival but it was still an amazing console. While the console never had a proper impact in the Bangladeshi market, it was still quite a successful franchise abroad. Xbox's greatest achievement was the first person shooter franchise, Halo. Both Halo and its sequel Halo 2 are perhaps two of the greatest FPS games of all time and they actually serve as a reason for gamers to buy the 3.86 kg beast.
A watered-down Xbox would cost you around Tk. 4000 while a perfectly running one would cost you Tk. 5000. Plug and Play Electronics in Rifles Square would be your ideal place to purchase it from.
3.Nintendo GameCube
The GameCube had the insanely difficult task of succeeding its predecessor, the legendary Nintendo 64. While it never got to match the sales of the N64 or its successor the Nintendo Wii, the Gamecube still managed to hold on its own. What makes the GameCube a wonderful console is that its exclusive titles are amazing and it has some unique fighting and action-adventure titles.
It is very hard to find a GameCube in Dhaka. A trip to SOF Electronics in Banani UAE Market would be highly recommended. A GameCube might cost you around Tk. 3500.
4.Playstation 1
The console that started the legendary line of Playstation consoles. Sony launched the PS1 into the market and quickly tore apart its competition. With a long array of games including GTA 2, Driver 2 and Mortal Kombat 3 to boast from, the PS1 is an era-defining console that gamers love to bring down from their shelves and play every now and then.
Plug and Play in Rifles Square is the place you want to go to. The Playstation 1 would cost you around Tk. 1500.
5.Sega Dreamcast
Remember Dreamcast? It was the first console that allowed you to play online. Sega's Dreamcast was way ahead for its time but it was a landmark console nonetheless. With innovative exclusive games like Crazy Taxi and Shenmue and the game ports of all the arcade games by Sega, the Dreamcast is a worthy buy
It is rare to find a Dreamcast today but both SOF Electronics (UAE Market) and Plug and Play (Rifles Square) have a few units left. You could get one for Tk.1500
6.Nintendo 64
Before the GameCube or the Wii came out, Nintendo 64 was the bomb. With games like GoldenEye 007 and Super Mario 64, the console had cemented its legacy. N64 has tons of decorated games to its library and that makes it such a memorable console even today.
Bangladesh basically does not sell N64s anymore but Plug and Play still has about 5 units left in its shelves with their asking price about Tk. 1500.
So, what are you waiting for? Go buy a legacy console and plug it into your TV and relive the endless hours of fun we had in our childhood.
