In its proposals for amendments to the Defence and Armed Forces Act, which are up for public discussion, the government is proposing that foreign aircraft join Bulgarian airplanes in patrolling the country's airspace. The legislative changes that have to be approved by parliament will allow aircraft from other NATO member countries to patrol Bulgarian airspace. The amendment will permit the use of arms if the aircraft of third countries breach the country’s airspace. The motives for the amendments were signed by PM Boyko Borissov himself.
