There's no denying the fact that Virat Kohli is India's most popular cricketer right now. Be it handling himself on the field or off it with the fans, he warrants everyone's attention. With recent successes in the three-Test tour of Sri Lanka, the 26-year-old has gained more fans.

One of Indian cricket's biggest voices and now president of the Cricket Association of Bengal Sourav Ganguly has heaped praise on India's Test skipper. "I am a big fan of Virat Kohli. He is a captain who always wants to win matches on the field and I love that passion in him. I love the attitude and aggression in Kohli. He might lose sometimes and win sometimes but you know that he is playing to win it," Ganguly is quoted as saying by IANS.

Ganguly was perhaps one of the first Indian captains to 'give it back' to the opposition thanks to spreading an infectious aggressive mindset within the team. Who can forget this...

Kohli, meanwhile, instills a similar thinking within the side when they're playing 'only to win'. Although, he has a long way to go before he reaches the kind of legacy Ganguly left for Mahendra Singh Dhoni to take forward as an iconic Indian skipper, Kohli has had a tough yet fulfilling start. Recently, he did what no previous Indian captain could do in Sri Lanka, win two games in Test series in historic triumph. Here are India's top-10 Test captains:

It was way back in the year 2009 when it was first predicted by Kohli's IPL coach at the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rey Jennings that Kohli will one day go on to lead India. Jennings, in a recent interview, said that Kohli would hold key to how India perform in the upcoming series against South Africa that starts with the first T20 at Dharamsala on October.

"I had said during my second year in IPL that Virat would captain India one day. Virat is a fighter. He has got excellent cricketing brain. He analyses the situation well. His work ethics are very good. These are all the qualities of a good captain. We know Virat has one or two weaknesses and I am sure he will address those in the coming years. He is very passionate about his cricket and India will be benefitted with his fighting spirit. He has tremendous belief in himself. There's no doubt Virat will be the key man for India in this series," Jennings told the TOI

In Dharamsala now, Kohli is practicing hard to take on the Proteas and having a ball at the same time.
