10 per cent cop force to be women, vows Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala

The Vanitha police station with only female staff has its jurisdiction in the entire district
KOLLAM: The number of women police officers will be increased to 10 per cent of the total Police force, home minister Ramesh Chennithala said here on Monday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Kollam City Vanitha police station at the Kollam East Police station compound. He also said the PSC notification had been altered accordingly so as to to increase the number of women police officer recruits.
The Vanitha police station with only female staff has its jurisdiction in the entire district. The station will allow women to approach the police without fear, the minister said.
A new project Subha-yatra will be implemented across the state to curb road accidents. Cameras will be installed throughout the main roads of the state to pick up on vehicles that violate speed limits, he said. K.N. Balagopal MP and IG Manoj Abraham took part in the function which was presided over by A.A. Azeez MLA.
