Duke is stockpiling big bodies in the paint in the class of 2016; the latest came by way of Saint Anne’s-Belffield’s (Charlottesville, Va.) 6-foot-8 forward Javin DeLaurier, who committed to Duke on Sunday.

DeLaurier, who is ranked No. 44 overall in the ESPN 100, averaged 13.1 points and 8.1 rebounds a game for Team Loaded-Virginia this past summer on the adidas Gauntlet and pumped in 10.3 points and seven rebounds a game when Loaded won the adidas Uprising Summer Championships in Las Vegas in July.
DeLaurier joins Lone Peak (Highland, Utah) combo guard Frank Jackson, who is ranked No. 14 overall, and Chaminade College Prep (St. Louis) forward Jayson Tatum, who is ranked No. 2 overall, in Duke’s 2016 class thus far; but if the Blue Devils have their way, DeLaurier won’t be the last big body from the senior class in their stable.
Duke is still very much in play for Oak Hill Academy’s (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) 6-10 forward Harry Giles III, the No. 1 overall player, DeSoto’s (DeSoto, Texas) 6-10 center Marques Bolden, who is ranked No. 20 overall, and Wilbraham & Monson’s (Manchester, N.H.) 6-9 forward Wenyen Gabirel, who is ranked No. 23 overall.
Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, associate head coach Jeff Capel and assistant Jon Scheyer are scheduled to visit Gabriel at his school wenyen on Tuesday.
