BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy alleged that the TRS government was delaying the GHMC elections, and removing valid voter names from the list, with prior knowledge through a secret survey that it would be defeated in the elections.
Claiming that a total of 4,77,972 voters have been struck off from the lists, Mr. Reddy attributed this to the political motives of the ruling party. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Reddy accused the government of revoking its decision to increase the divisions to 200 under pressure from the MIM party.
Though there are many bogus voters in old city, none of them is being removed, he claimed. Besides, rowdy-sheets have been lifted from 146 persons who are MIM cadre. Pointing out that the TRS did not fare so well in the city during the Assembly polls in 2014, Mr. Reddy exuded confidence that BJP would win majority of the seats. Speaking on the condition of roads in the city, Mr. Reddy remarked that such pathetic state of roads has never been experienced in the past, and ridiculed Chief Minister’s promise of skyways. He scoffed at Chief Minister’s announcement about 400 double bedroom houses in each constituency, and said it cannot be taken seriously.
