South Africa get their first win at the World Cup as JP Pietersen shines in 46-6 win over Samoa - here's how the Springboks rated.

MATCH GRADE: B+

This was thoroughly a game of two halves. Samoa were on top at the beginning and indeed led 6-3 at some point, before the Springboks scored 43 unanswered points after JP Pietersen's interception try in the 14th minute. South Africa deserved their bonus point as they racked up six tries - five coming in the second-half - and showed their superior muscle and technical ability. It all looks a whole lot rosier for the Springboks now.

STAR MEN

1. JP PIETERSEN
Well, who else? The breakaway try in the first-half was down to his own ingenuity and it changed the flow of the game as Samoa had started well.
2. BRYAN HABANA
There are still few sights as impressive in world rugby as Bryan Habana in full flow. His run for the sixth try was vintage Habana and a return to form after last week's disappointment.

3. SCHALK BURGER
Showed extreme muscle and determination to get over the line in the second half to cap off a fine individual performance. Received a huge ovation from the travelling Springbok fans.

BAD DAY

The fly-half had an evening to forget with his boot. He missed three of his conversions and on another night his profligacy in front of the posts could prove costly.

SOUTH AFRICA HEAD COACH HEYNEKE MEYER

"It's been a tough week. I've been there (difficult times) a few times in my life. That's when I'm usually at my best and I'm usually true to myself.
"I don't want to take anything away from the players. I just said please listen to me, do whatever we do and it will be an easy game.
"That's why I coach. I'm crazy as hell. Sometimes you don't know why. It's also great to look yourself in the mirror and see how tough you are.
"We went back to what I'm good at, the players bought in and I'm thankful for the players for listening to me.
"I asked the senior players to put up their hands and they did."
