The Kannada film industry is happy with Mysuru being chosen for setting up a film city.

According to said the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairperson S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu, who hails from Mysuru, the royal city was the centre of cinema-making in the sixties. Mysuru was a favourite location for film-makers, including Raj Kapoor and Shantaram. While Krishnaraja Sagar is still a preferred locale, Mysuru and Melkote are the favourites of Mani Ratnam and Rajinikanth. Mysuru’s proximity to Ooty and the picturesque Kodagu and Biligiri are added attractions.
