Lalettan is such a joy to work with: Anoop Menon

The multi-tasker Anoop Menon has his kitty full with acting in Mohanlal-starrer Kanal, Marthandan’s Pavada and writing script for a couple of movies
As Kanal gets ready for release, Anoop Menon is excited to share screen space with Mohanlal once again. Anoop says that every time he has been a part of a Mohanlal project, be it Grandmaster, Pranayam or Pakal Nakshatrangal, it has always been a hit with the audience and he expects nothing less this time.
“Lalettan is such a joy to work with and just getting to see him act is a great experience. He is a very humble and down-to-earth person. Lalettan and Mammookka are the teachers for every actor in my generation and we learned the art imitating them initially. So, I have naturally adapted some gestures of Lalettan and my acting has been influenced by him.”
“Since, I’m chubby and looks a little like him, people sometimes say my acting style is similar to his. But it’s mostly just the looks. It was my mother who first told me that I look like Lalettan,” Anoop adds. The actor is presently busy at the sets of G. Marthandan’s Pavada, where he is executing the role of a 53-year-old and is also scripting a legal thriller to be directed by Padmakumar. “Though I’m a real-life advocate, this is the first time I’m acting as an advocate onscreen. It’s also special because this is the first time that I’m scripting an investigative thriller. I hope it thrills,” he quips.
“In both the movies, I play older characters for some duration of the script, but undergo a gentle transition later. Both scripts are fresh and interesting.” Apart from these projects, he also has Malgudi Days and a Shankar Ramakrishnan film in the pipeline and will also be involved with the scripting of Priyadarshan and Lal Jose projects.
“I also have a project with Jayasurya early next year for which we have zeroed in on a theme. After Hotel California, we had decided to take six months to finish off our other projects and do something that would have both of us in the lead again. But then, six months became two years. So now, we are excited to finally do it,” he adds.
