When you're starving while making your order at McDonalds, there's nothing more irresistible than going for that Big Mac or Chicken Maharaja Mac (if you live in India). And once you sink your teeth into it, who really gives an eff about all those health issues, the burger is delicious!

Well, wait till you read this:

We all know the shit that happens to your body after consuming foods and beverages high in sugar and trans fat, but this just plain scary. The fact that the body starts reacting negatively within 10 minutes of consuming the burger is just a sign that eating it was more of a Big Mistake.

According to the info-graphic, the 540 calorie burger spikes blood sugar, raising the hormone levels of dopamine, the effects being the same after snorting cocaine. This likely leads to compulsive eating.

Twenty minutes later, the addictive sugars take control as unlike normal bread, the buns of the Big Mac contain high fructose corn syrup and sodium. These can cause diabetes and heart disease.

Thirty minutes after eating a Big Mac, the high amount of sodium present as salt dehydrates organs like the kidneys forcing to draw water from other tissues, this leads to slowing excretion and harder work for the heart to pump blood. We all know what the scariest three word phrase today is: High Blood Pressure.

Forty minutes after you are done, a spike in insulin will lead to crave more junk food. Now that's a vicious circle, no one wants to be in!

It can take between 24 to 72 hours to digest a meal. Since the Big Mac is greasier, it can take more than three days to completely get absorbed in your system. Not to mention that it has 1.5 grams of trans fat which takes up to 51 days to get digested.

Granted it is difficult to stay off junk food forever, but we always have the option of going for healthier choices. Switch the fries for a salad or share it with someone, ditch the soft drink for water or green tea and eat some yoghurt to aid digestion after you are done with your McDonald's meal.

KEEP

Of course the above symptoms do not occur if you eat a McDonald's burger once in a blue moon. However if it is a frequent visitor to your table, you better stop now.
