LAHORE - Jamaat e Islami Amir Sirajul Haq has expressed profound grief over the tragedy in Mina, Saudi Arabia, leading to the death of over 700 Haj pilgrims and injuries to over 850 more.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the JI chief said although the Saudi government was busy in improving the security arrangements to ensure smooth performance of the Haj rites, the large scale deaths caused by stampede at Mina were shocking.
He prayed for the salvation of the martyrs and for the early recovery of the injured. He also expressed full sympathies with the bereaved families.
Siraj, in his message on Eidul Azha, said: “This is an occasion to renew our resolve to fashion our individual and collectives lives in the light of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
“This historic day is an invaluable gift from Almighty Allah to human beings as it reminded of the supreme sacrifice offered by the great Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his beloved son Prophet Ismail (AS) which was a source of inspiration and guidance for the believers.
“Allah Almighty had accepted the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and the message for the believers was that they must be always prepared for every sacrifice in the path of Allah. As a true follower of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we must be ready to sacrifice our ego, opinion and life and property in the path of Allah.”
The JI chief also stressed the need to renew the pledge to make Pakistan a welfare and prosperous state.
