There is tremendous change in Kanpur
Having come to the city several times, KK says, “This is the fourth time I am performing in Kanpur. The Kanpur audience is very involved which makes it fun for any singer to perform here,” says he, adding, “Another thing that I love about this city is its fantastic food.
I am very fond of the aloo tikki and pakoras. I remember I once came to IIT Kanpur when I used to study at Kirori Mal College, Delhi to participate in a cultural event. That time I visited a lot of eateries and enjoyed the local food. Kanpur has also grown a lot over the years. Kanpurites are courteous hosts and they know how to honour their guests.”

Competition Is Good
Talking about his professional life, we wonder if KK gets affected by the increasing competition in the world of music these days. But KK whose songs like 'Awarapan Banjarapan', 'Tadap Tadap Ke' and 'Pal' still make people swoon, says he doesn’t feel the pressure of any competition. “Every new singer in the industry is unique in his own way. These youngsters have brought a lot of freshness to our music, which I feel is good for music lovers. I personally like Ankit Tiwari, Arijit Singh, Neeti Mohan and Benny Dayal. They all are fantastic singers and are providing good songs and music. As far as competition is concerned, Shaan and I are from the same league and we have already entertained people for years and now we can afford to be selective. I also feel that the music scene in India is very bight because now talent from smaller towns is making its presence felt in the industry. Also, there are so many opportunities available, so there’s no dearth of work for me,” he says.

From Australia with love
KK’s song 'Tu Jo Mila' from the Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan is his latest hit. Narrating an interesting incident on how he recorded the song, KK tells us, “I was on a vacation with my family in Australia. Suddenly I got a call from Pritam Chakraborty and he said ‘KK, yaar ek ganaa record karna hai’. I told him that I am in Australia and there is no studio here, so he said, 'Sydney aa jao aur wahan gaana record kardo’. I went to Sydney the next day and recorded 'Tu Jo Mila'. I said yes to the song because it has a beautiful and soulful melody and I loved its lyrics,” says KK.
