Punjab: Ex-NSUI chief Harpal Pardhan slams remarks against Rahul Gandhi

Former NSUI president and Rahul Gandhi loyalist Harpal Pardhan on Wednesday led a protest in front of the residence of Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh — Moti Bagh Palace in Patiala — for the latter’s remarks against Rahul.

Pardhan accused Amarinder of acting like an agent of PM Narendra Modi. “Amarinder was ditching the party that had given him everything from a political identity to the chief minister post. A thankless Amarinder has a habit of backstabbing everybody. It is surprising that he is speaking against the Gandhi family, particularly Rahul, who twice gave him an opportunity to lead the party in the state, but he was rejected by the masses,” he said. Despite being made the Congress deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Amarinder seldom cared to attend Parliamentary sessions, Pardhan added.

While the Congress cadre had suspected that Amarinder was getting close to Modi, his statement against Rahul has made it clear that “he has accepted to become a BJP agent”.
