Shane Lowry's miracle escape on the final hole of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational has been voted the European Tour's Shot of the Month for August.

Leading by two shots on the 18th at Firestone, Lowry sent his drive into the trees but somehow managed to scramble from 127 yards to secure a par and the biggest win of his life.

"It was actually a pretty horrific lie." Lowry told EuropeanTour.com. "It was sitting down in a hole. It was almost like someone had stood on it, but it was where the crowd was walking. And I just said to Dermot, I'll try and hit sand wedge and just get it down to the front of the green. I pulled it a bit too low and went into the tree."

"The rest is history."

Lowry's escape earned more than 60 per cent of the votes from My European Tour fans, the largest portion of any Shot of the Month winner in 2015. David Howell's monster putt at the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play came was the second most popular shot with 15 per cent of the vote.
