It's not been a great start to the evening for Arsenal .

It seems that the Gunners' preparations ahead of their big North London derby clash with Tottenham at White Hart Lane have been comically delayed - despite the modest distance between the local rivals, the Arsenal team bus was late to the Lane after getting stuck in a spot of unexpected traffic.

Most fans have seen this as an unnecessary inconvenience - an annoying sideshow ahead of a crucial match. However, some have seen it as a source of comedy. Most of that comedy has, rather cruelly, been aimed in Mikel Arteta's direction.

It seems that some fans, not satisfied with the idea that the bus delay is a simple act of god, are attributing the hold up to their long-serving Spanish midfielder. Mainly, they seem to think his lack of pace is starting to affect even the team's transport.

Sure, we'll admit Mikel isn't the fastest player these days...

We'll even admit that the Flamini-Arteta midfield axis looks a bit suspect...

But come on guys. There's no need for jokes like these. No need at all.
