Webpass Launches Fiber Optic Network In San Francisco - Internet Service Provider (ISP) Begins Laying Fiber Today

Webpass deploys fiber in San Francisco

Webpass, Inc., a San Francisco-based Internet service provider, today announced the launch of fiber service to residential and business customers in San Francisco.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) - Webpass, Inc., a San Francisco-based Internet service provider, today announced the launch of fiber service to residential and business customers in San Francisco. Webpass’ fiber deployment will build upon their existing network with improved fault tolerance and geographically diverse pathways improving each and every customer’s experience.

“San Francisco is arguably the most prominent and largest tech city in the world and local residents deserve faster speeds and more alternatives to the bigger cable companies,” said Webpass President Charles Barr. His company’s new “Simple Urban Fiber” product fills the void. Webpass already offers speeds ranging from 100 Mbps - 1 Gbps via its point-to-point wireless service, but the company’s fiber deployment will enable speeds 10 times greater, and provide long-term network reliability for current and future customers.

Speed and reliability are dire needs when it comes to Internet service in San Francisco. Webpass recognized these needs long ago, and has a history of delivering speeds 10 times faster than those provided by competitors large and small. The company owns and operates its own Ethernet network from the customer port to the peering port and prides itself on exceeding customers’ expectations, consistently offering complimentary network upgrades to deliver even faster speeds. “We want to give our customers the fastest, most reliable network possible,” said Barr. “Fiber will help us continue to make network upgrades and support the increased download rates expected in the future.”

Webpass sees its fiber deployment as a network upgrade, and will not alter its standardized pricing model. Webpass customers pay the same rate regardless of the speed received (speeds vary based on buildings’ capabilities, ranging from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps). Current residential pricing is $55/month or $500/year, and will increase to $60/month or $550/year on October 1. Since deployment will occur in phases (build-outs), existing Webpass residential customers will receive service via a combination of point-to-point wireless and fiber optics. They not will be able to detect a change in network performance.

To find out if your business is eligible for Webpass fiber, check out their map to see where fiber will be first deployed. This map will be updated as the build-out occurs. Webpass will also be taking requests for custom fiber builds, so businesses not located within the initial highlighted area can request fiber service via the online form or by calling 1-800-WEBPASS.
