BHOPAL: Gwalior Municipal Corporation has banned slaughtering of animals for 10 days of paryushan parv, counsel of the civic body informed Gwalior bench of MP high court on Tuesday.
Deepak Khot, counsel of the corporation apprised the court that ban will be imposed in the entire municipal area of the city.

A division bench of the high court on Tuesday directed the state government to file a report on steps initiated by it to close slaughter houses for 10 days during the paryushan parv from September 17 to 27.

The court however relaxed the ban for September 25 and 26 in view of Eid-ul-Zuha.
A division bench of justice UC Maheshweri and SK Gupta directed the additional advocate general to call specific report from the concerning department or the chief secretary of the state on ban on slaughtering of animals during the 10 days.

The court on September 16 had ordered compliance of the Supreme Court order of 2008 justifying ban on slaughtering.
The next hearing would take place on September 24.
Additional advocate general Arvind Dudawat said that the government has already clarified its stand.
“Slaughtering is ban on 17 days on different occasions in the state,” he said.
