Now Tollywood is all set to embrace fiction on television. And the one to bring the winds of change is none other than Prosenjit Chatterjee. If all goes well, the superstar will be seen doing a TV series post-Puja.
A brainchild of Shree Venkatesh Films (SVF), the series that has been kept neatly under the wraps will revolve around Prosenjit himself. Sources close to the project say it's on Uttam Kumar. Years back, in the early '90s, Prosenjit played Rahul in Kagojer Bou based on a novel of the same name by Shishendu Mukhopadhyay . He had also appeared in yet another serial, Tritiyo Purush. Though he kept busy with films, Prosenjit also did two non-fiction shows Banglar Sera Paribar and Tumi Je Aamar in 2013 and 2014. In fact, many actors like Rituparna Sengupta, Jisshu Sengupta, Rachna Banerjee, Debasree Roy, Soham, Chiranjeet have dabbled with non-fiction while only a handful balanced serials with movies. If the series does happen, it would be the first of its kind for a Tolly star. Says the source, “SVF is planning the venture in a big way , though the project is still in its initial stage. Prosenjit is yet to sign on the dotted lines but things are likely to fall into place in the next one month."
Though there's no confirmation on the content of the series, Prosenjit, it's well known, is a great admirer of the Mahanayak's works, Bagh Bandi Khela being one of his favourite films. About the series, no one was available for comment till the time of going to press.
