PATNA: RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Monday dared RSS and BJP to end the reservation policy, if they have strength. He also threatened to increase the quota percentage in proportionate to the population of different communities.
“You people are talking about terminating the reservation policy. We will increase the reservation percentage for different communities in proportionate to their population.
If you have drunk ‘Mai Ka Dudh’ (mother’s milk), show us after getting it terminated. You will come to know who has what strength,” Lalu said in message on twitter after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat pitched for a review of the country’s reservation policy contending it has been used for political ends.
The RJD supremo, who became famous leader of backward classes in early 90s after he whole-heartedly supported the former prime minister V P Singh’s decision to implement the Mandal Commission’s recommendation providing 27% quota to OBC in central government jobs, also asked the PM Narendra Modi to clarify his stand on the issue and tell people whether he (Modi) would terminate the reservation policy at the advice of Mohan Bhagwat.
“Tathakathit chai bechane wala, haal hi mein pichhda bana Modi batayein ki who apne aaka Mohan Bhagwat ke kahne se aarakshan khatam karenge ki nahi? (The so-called tea-seller Modi who recently converted as Backward, shall tell people whether he will terminate the reservation policy at the advice of his mentor Mohan Bhagwat?),” Lalu said in another tweet.
He also said no matter how much RSS and BJP try to create a ‘strategic atmosphere’ for terminating the reservation policy, Dalit and backwards who constitute 80 per cent of the country’s population would give a befitting reply and also thwart any such move.
Lalu, in another tweet, also said, “Whenever I talk in favour of the disadvantaged people I am described as ‘anti-development’ and whenever I talk about ending disparity and inequality from the society, I am termed a casteist.”
Bhagwat, in a recent interview to RSS mouthpiece 'Organiser' and 'Panchjanya', suggested constitution of a committee with representatives from the civil society to go into the issue of reservation.
