Interior fitting company Overbury has become the first in the UK to be certified under the revised version of the ISO 14001 standard.

The global environmental management standard has helped more than 300,000 businesses improve their green performance.

It helps organisations reduce the environmental impact of growth, cut waste and save energy.

The new version takes into account the latest trends that influence their impact such as climate volatility.

Maureen Sumner Smith, Managing Director at British Standards Institution (BSI) said: “The new version of ISO 14001 really supports organisations to prioritise their business needs whilst enabling them to meet environmental requirements, improve efficiency and environmental performance.”

Neil Pike, Head of Business Improvement at Overbury added: “In order to achieve our certification to ISO 14001 we had to begin with a top down approach to make it really successful. We also needed co-operation between all departments from our internal environmental team, right through to our supply chain.”
